I decided to begin this blog as a way to communicate with my daughter, Gabby. When she grows up and understands the world, she will know all of the hopes and dreams that I and everyone else has for her. Although I have written many articles, press releases, ad copy and such over the years, I have never sat down and just wrote for my darling princess.
The decision to begin today was fostered by three things that happened this week.
1. I was nearly moved to tears when I read about Avery's passing and some of the items on her bucket list.
2. I became aware that someone I had known had passed away at a young age unexpectedly.
3. This morning I witnessed pure happiness at the Miracle League. Watching the special needs kids play baseball - they all batted, ran the bases, scored, and threw the ball. I was especially moved when a young man, nicknamed wheels (he was in a wheel chair), knocked it out the part and hit a home run. Looking at his priceless smile as he rounded third and headed for home is something that I will never forget.
Now that you understand my reasoning, here is my first hope and dream for my princess.
1. Throughout your life, please find ways to give back. Take some time out of your busy life and volunteer for a cause or causes that you are passionate about. You may do something small, but for those brief minutes, you are bringing joy to someone else that may never have that experience.
XOXO,
Mommy
